Description of the plum tree ‘President’

‘President’ is a plum variety that enters the fruiting period early. It yields very abundantly, annually. The fruits are large, oval, covered with maroon-purple or almost dark blue skin. The flesh is quite compact, tasty. A typical dessert and processing variety.

How to plant plum ‘President’?

The tree is best planted in a sunny position, sheltered from the winds. The plant prefers sandy loam, moderately moist, fertile soil. The optimal pH is between 6.7 and 7.2.

Care of the ‘President’ plum tree

Wanting to stimulate the tree to bear abundant fruit, it is necessary to perform a formative pruning in the first year, immediately after planting. Trim the guide 20 cm above the planned branches. We also trim the remaining branches, shortening their length to 1/3. Pruning of plum trees is best done annually in the spring. President requires the presence of other varieties flowering at the same time for pollination. It works well with the varieties Renkloda Althana, Renkloda Ulena, Stanley, Amers, Cacanska Lepotica, Ruth Gerstetter.
