Japanese rose “Wild rose” description

Wrinkled rose or “Wild Rose” is a shrub that reaches up to 1.5 m in height. It is distinguished by an erect, bushy habit. The shoots are densely covered with thorns. Leaves composed of 5-9 leaves, leathery, wrinkled. In June, large, pinkish, fragrant, single flowers bloom. Their diameter reaches 8 cm. In summer-autumn the shrub is decorated with red-orange, spherical fruits.

How to plant Japanese rose “Wild rose”?

Wrinkled rose grows equally well in sunny and semi-shaded positions. It has no special requirements for the substrate – it copes even on sandy soils with low nutrient content.

Care for Japanese rose

In early spring, we remove the oldest and diseased shoots, cutting them at the base. In addition, we can shorten thicker, strong shoots by 1/3 of their length so as to make the plant bushy. In the case of strong rejuvenation pruning, we cut all shoots – the oldest at the base, and the remaining ones at a height of about 20 cm. We fertilize the wrinkled rose with organic fertilizers. The plant is fully resistant to frost, soil salinity and air pollution.
