Description of the ‘Idared’ apple tree
‘Idared’ is a late-winter apple variety. It starts fruiting early, yielding annually and abundantly. It bears medium-sized, spherical fruits, covered with an intense, vivid red, fuzzy blush, with firm, juicy, sour flesh.
Care of ‘Idared’ apple trees
Wanting to stimulate the tree to bear abundant fruit, it is necessary to perform a formative pruning in the first year, immediately after planting. Trim the guide 20 cm above the planned branches. We also trim the remaining branches, shortening their length to 1/3. Pruning apple trees is best done annually in the spring. Idared requires the presence of other varieties flowering at the same time for pollination. It works well with Celeste, Ligol, Mclntosh, Pilot, Ruby, Champagne, Cortland, Delicatessen, James Grieve varieties.
