Description of forsythia

Forsythia is an ornamental shrub that blooms very early in spring. The flowers are very large, bell-shaped, golden yellow in color. The leaves are green, elliptical, 6-10cm long, pointed on both sides. The shrub is initially upright, narrow and slender, with time it expands. It grows up to 3 m in height.

How to plant forsythia?

The shrub is best planted in a sunny or semi-shaded position. The ideal soil should be fertile, with fairly high humidity. It likes soil with a slightly acidic to weakly alkaline pH.

Care of forsythia

Avoid excessive pruning. Immediately after flowering, trim only those shoots that have bloomed flowers. Once every few years some of the oldest branches can be shortened.
